GFT Monthly Competitions: how they work
Updated
Every month Goat Funded Trader runs a free trading competition on a demo account. You trade against other participants, the ranking is based on profit, and the top 30 win prizes.
WHO CAN JOIN?
- The monthly competition is free to join.
- Traders in the USA cannot take part.
- Only one competition account per person is permitted.
- No password is needed for the monthly competition.
HOW DO I JOIN?
- Log in to your Goat Funded Trader dashboard and open the Competitions tab.
- Select the monthly competition and join it.
- Your competition account credentials appear in the same tab, under Credentials.
You can register before the competition begins. Trading is enabled on the start date of the competition, not before.

WHEN DOES IT START AND END?
The monthly competition starts on the 1st of the month at 00:00 UTC and runs until the last day of that month. The exact dates are shown on the competition page in your dashboard.
When the competition ends, trading on the competition account is disabled. This is not a breach. It only means the competition is over.
WHAT ARE THE RULES?
- Maximum daily loss: 5%. It is calculated from the higher of your balance or equity, recorded at the 5 PM EST reset.
- Maximum overall loss: 10%. It is fixed from the starting balance, so on a $100,000 account your equity must stay above $90,000.
- News trading is allowed.
- Holding trades overnight and over the weekend is permitted.
- Expert Advisors (EAs) are not allowed.
- One account per person. Multiple competition accounts for the same person are not permitted.
If a loss limit is breached, the competition account is closed and can no longer take part in that competition.
HOW IS THE RANKING DECIDED?
There is no profit target. Participants are ranked by the profit on their competition account, and the final ranking is the one on the leaderboard when the competition ends.
You can follow your position on the leaderboard in the Competitions tab of your dashboard.
HOW DO PRIZES WORK?
- The top 30 participants are eligible for a prize each month.
- Prizes change from month to month. They can include cash for the top 5 or top 10, physical prizes such as iPhones, Samsung phones, tablets, MacBooks and smartwatches, and Instant GOAT, Instant Hero or 2-Step accounts.
- The prize for each position is listed on the competition page in your dashboard.
- After the competition ends, our team reviews the accounts of the top-ranked traders.
- The top 5 winners are asked to attend a short interview with our marketing team before their prize is issued. The interview may be used in our public content.
- No KYC is required to receive a prize.
- Winners are contacted by email. You do not need to open a request to claim a prize.
All prizes are sent out within 10 days of the end of the competition month.
COMMON QUESTIONS
The competition asks me for a password. Where do I get it?
The monthly competition never needs a password. Only the weekly live stream competition and competitions run together with partners are password-protected. That password is shared by the host during the live stream or on their social channels. Support cannot provide competition passwords.
I cannot log in, or my account is read-only.
Use the MT5 login, the trading password and the exact server shown under Credentials in the Competitions tab. Read-only mode usually means you logged in with the investor password. Also check that the competition has started, because trading is only enabled from the start date.
My account was in profit but trading is disabled.
The competition has ended. Competition accounts are disabled at the end of the competition, whatever their result.
Can I withdraw the profit from my competition account?
No. Competition accounts have no withdrawals. Only the prizes listed for the competition are awarded.
I finished in a winning position and have not heard back.
Prizes are sent within 10 days of the end of the competition month. If that time has passed and you have not been contacted, write to support with your full name, email address, competition account number, the name of the competition, your final position and a screenshot of the leaderboard showing your name.
