Trading rules
Is hedging allowed?
No, hedging is strictly prohibited. This includes:
- Hedging within the same trading account.
- Hedging between multiple accounts owned by the same trader.
- Hedging between accounts owned by different traders.
- Hedging between a GoatFundedTrader (GFT) account another Firm’s account, either if the two accounts are owned by the same person or by two different people.
Hedging is defined as opening two opposite positions on the same asset, regardless of lot size or calculated risk. This rule is in place to maintain fair and transparent trading practices and to protect the integrity of our trading environment.
If we detect any hedging activity—especially between a GFT account and an external firm—the account will be breached immediately, and the user will be permanently banned from our platform. In the case of a Simulated Funded Account, the trader will not be eligible for any rewards.
Can I use Expert Advisors (EAs)?
You can use an Expert Advisor only if you developed it yourself. Third-party EAs are not allowed at any time. This includes purchased, shared and off-the-shelf EAs, and any EA marketed to pass evaluations. Our team has the right to request proof of ownership at any time, for example the source code. If you cannot provide it, the account is treated as in breach.
High-frequency trading (HFT) systems and Gold Arbitrage EAs are not allowed in any case, and your EA must still follow the prohibited trading practices rule.
Note: From October 6, 2026, VPNs, VPSs, proxies and any other hosting service are not allowed during trading on any account. If your EA needs a VPS to run, you cannot use it on a Goat Funded Trader account. See Can I use a VPN, VPS, proxy, or any other hosting service while trading?
Using Signals
Signal services and copying trades from other people are not permitted on GOAT Funded Trader accounts.
Copying trades from signal providers, trading groups, third-party services, or other traders is considered a prohibited trading practice and may result in account termination.
Copy trading between your own accounts is allowed. You can freely copy trades between your own Goat Funded Trader accounts. This includes copying from one evaluation account to another, and between evaluation and funded accounts in either direction. This applies to all accounts, whenever they were purchased.
All trading decisions must be made independently by the account holder. Traders are expected to manage their own positions and execute trades based on their own analysis and judgment.
If you are unsure whether a particular service or trading method is permitted, please contact our Support team before using it.

Does Goat Funded Trader Allow "All or Nothing" Trading Strategies?
At Goat Funded Trader, we have a strict policy against high-risk, "all or nothing" trading strategies. Our goal is to support traders who demonstrate strong risk management, consistent performance, and the ability to generate sustainable profits. These are the traders we partner with, offering simulated funded accounts of up to $400,000.
We define gambling-style trading as any trade where more than 80% of available margin is used in a trading idea. Such excessive risk exposure indicates a lack of proper risk management, which goes against the principles we uphold.
Trading strategies that rely on high-risk, all-or-nothing approaches are not permitted. If a trader engages in such activities, it may lead to profit deductions or phase resets.
At Goat Funded Trader, we prioritize disciplined and strategic trading to ensure long-term success in the financial markets.
What is the minimum holding time for trades?
For funded accounts, any profit from a trade that is open for less than the minimum holding time is considered invalid and is removed when a payout is requested.
The minimum holding time depends on when the account was purchased:
- Purchased before 6 October 2026 (00:00 UTC): 2 minutes (120 seconds)
- Purchased from 6 October 2026 (00:00 UTC) onward: 1 minute (60 seconds)
A funded account follows the purchase date of the challenge it came from. If you reset a challenge that was purchased before 6 October 2026, it stays at 2 minutes, even if the reset happens after that date.
Any losses from trades closed before the minimum holding time remain and are the trader's responsibility.
This means you may open and close positions faster than the minimum holding time if you wish. Profits from those trades are not included in payout calculations, while losses still count.
Having profits removed for this reason is not a breach or violation of funded account rules. It only affects the payout amount.
This rule applies only to funded accounts and does not affect evaluation (challenge) accounts.
This policy helps ensure fair trading conditions and aligns with the liquidity and risk management standards required for consistent and sustainable trading across all funded traders.

Is it Mandatory to use stop loss and take profit?
No, is not. While we highly encourage utilizing stop losses and take profits as part of disciplined risk management, we do not make them mandatory.
Is News Trading allowed?
1. Can I trade during news events with Goat Funded Traders?
Yes. Trading during news events is allowed and does not violate any Goat Funded Traders rules.
2. Are there any limitations on profits generated during high-impact news events?
Yes. Any trade that is opened or closed within 5 minutes before or after a high-impact news release (marked with a red folder on ForexFactory.com or Myfxbook.com) can generate a maximum profit of 1% of the account’s initial balance per trade.
This includes trades closed manually or automatically through:
- Stop Loss
- Take Profit
- Pending Orders
3. Does this policy apply to both the challenge and funded phases?
Yes, this rule applies equally to both the challenge phase and the funded phase of your account.
4. What happens if profits exceed the 1% limit during these times?
The limit applies to each trade separately. If the profit from a single trade in the restricted time exceeds 1% of the initial account balance, the excess profit on that trade will be removed.
This adjustment will not result in any kind of breach or penalty to the account. This deduction typically happens during account reviews.

Can I hold trades over the weekend?
Yes, you can hold trades over the weekend.
Do you allow trading the weekend gap?
At Goat Funded Trader, we fully allow traders to hold trades over the weekend. However, we do not allow opening trades solely to take advantage of the price gap that occurs when the market reopens on Monday.
Any trades opened during the last three (3) market hours on Friday and closed within the first three (3) market hours on Monday will be subject to review. For funded accounts only, any profits generated from these trades will be removed.
This does not constitute a violation of any kind and will not result in penalties or account termination. It is strictly a profit adjustment.
We encourage traders to focus on consistent, strategy-based performance rather than attempting to exploit weekend market gaps.
What Time Does A Trading Day Start?
Trading days are calculated based on 5 PM EST.
A new trading day starts at 5:00:01 PM EST and runs until 4:59:59 PM EST the next day.
A trade counts toward the trading day in which it is closed. A trade closed after 5 PM EST counts toward the next day's trading day.
For example:
- A trade closed on Monday at 4 PM EST counts toward Monday's trading day.
- A trade closed on Monday at 6 PM EST counts toward Tuesday's trading day.
This timing aligns with the global forex market session rollover, ensuring consistency across all trader accounts.
What is considered a Trading Day?
A trading day runs from 5 PM EST to 5 PM EST.
A day is counted as a trading day when you close at least one position during it and the minimum daily profit requirement for your model and phase is met. Opening a trade without closing it does not count.
Where a profit requirement applies, the day must close with a profit of at least 0.5% of the initial account balance, net of fees and commissions. These days are called minimum profitable days.
The number of days required for each model is listed in What are the Minimum Profitable Days?
What are the Minimum Profitable Days?

What Is the Consistency Rule?
Why Do We Have a Consistency Rule?
The Consistency Rule is designed to encourage steady and sustainable trading performance. It helps ensure that traders are not relying on one unusually large trading day.
What Is the Consistency Rule?
The Consistency Rule means that no single trading day can account for X% or more of your total profits during the payout period.
The consistency percentage may vary depending on the challenge or funding model.
You can check whether your challenge has a Consistency Rule in our detailed model FAQs: https://help.goatfundedtrader.com/en/collections/11811982-models
Example
For example, if the Consistency Rule is 15% and your highest profit day should not exceed 15% of the total profit earned.
If your total profit earned is $5000, your highest trading day should not exceed (5000 X 15% ) = $750.
What Happens If I Do Not Meet the Consistency Rule?
Not meeting the Consistency Rule will not result in account termination or an account breach. However, you will not be able to request a payout until your highest profit day is below X% of your total profits for the payout period.
What Should I Do Next?
You should continue trading and generating profits until your highest profit day represents less than X% of your total profits.
Keep in mind that in order to decrease the consistency %, your max profit should be less than your current highest trading day.
How Are Partial Trades Counted for the Consistency Rule?
Each partial close counts on the trading day it happens. If you close one position in several parts on different days, the profit or loss from each part goes to the day that part was closed, and the consistency check uses those daily figures. No single day carries the whole trade.
Example of Partial Trade Calculation
You open one large trade and close a third on Monday, a third on Tuesday and the rest on Wednesday. Monday's part counts toward Monday's profit, Tuesday's toward Tuesday, Wednesday's toward Wednesday.
Trading days run 5 PM to 5 PM EST, so a partial close at 6 PM EST on Monday counts toward Tuesday's trading day.

Is there any inactivity limit?
Understanding GoatFundedTrader's Inactivity Policy
If no trades are placed on your account for 30 consecutive days, it will be breached due to inactivity. This rule applies to both Evaluation and Simulated Funded Accounts. Once breached, the account cannot be reinstated, and the fee will not be refunded. Make sure to stay active to keep your account in good standing.
To ensure the account remains active, consider executing at least one trade every 29 days to provide a buffer.
Common Questions About Inactivity
- Is there a minimum number of trading days requirement each month?
No, the inactivity policy is solely based on ensuring at least one trade within a 30-day period. The monthly minimum trading day requirements apply only when progressing accounts or requesting payouts.

What are Prohibited Trading Practices?
- Exploit errors or latency in the pricing and/or platform(s) provided by the Broker
- Utilize non-public and/or insider information
- Front-run trades placed elsewhere
- Trade in any way that jeopardizes the relationship GoatFundedTrader has with a broker or may result in the cancelling of trades
- Trade in any way that creates regulatory issues for the Broker
- All-0r-Nothing Trading, where you can lose the account in one trade
- If we decide that your trading style is not suitable for a long-term collaboration, and no other policy violation is found, we will close your account or accounts and refund your fee in full
- We strictly prohibit hedging positions within the same trading account, between accounts owned by the same traders, and between accounts owned by different traders. Hedging is defined as the act of opening two opposite positions on the same asset, regardless of differences in lot size or calculated risk. This policy is in place to ensure fair and transparent trading practices within our community and to uphold the integrity of our trading environment. Hedging can lead to confusion in risk management and may create unfair advantages or disadvantages for traders.
- Utilize any third-party strategy, Expert Advisor, off-the-shelf strategy or one marketed to pass assessment accounts will lead to a breach of your account or reward. Only EAs you developed yourself are allowed, and our team has the right to request proof of ownership, such as the source code, at any time
- Utilize one strategy to pass an assessment and then utilizing a different strategy in a simulated funded account, refers only to the use of EA in assessment and manual trading in simulated Funded stage and vice versa, as determined by GoatFundedTrader in its sole discretion
- Copying trades from other traders, signal providers or third-party services is prohibited. Copying trades between your own accounts is allowed, including between evaluation and funded accounts, whenever the accounts were purchased. After successfully passing the evaluation process, you have the flexibility to either combine the Funded accounts into a single account or keep them separate, based on your personal preference.
- If Goat Funded Trader detects that your trading constitutes Prohibited Trading Practices, your participation in the program will be terminated, the fee you paid will not be refunded, and any profits or pending payouts will not be paid. Additionally, and before you shall receive a simulated funded account, your trading activity under these Terms and Conditions shall be reviewed by Goat Funded Trader to determine whether such trading activity constitutes Prohibited Trading. In the case of Prohibited Trading, you shall not receive a simulated funded account or, if trading already trading in a simulated funded account, we may close that account, in which case you will forfeit any profits therein.
- Martingale Trading - Martingale trading strategies are strictly prohibited on all Goat Funded Trader accounts.
This includes any strategy that involves increasing lot sizes or trade volume after a loss in an attempt to recover previous losses. Such strategies are considered high-risk and violate our risk management and responsible trading policies.
Using Martingale or similar grid-based recovery systems may result in account termination and forfeiture of any associated profits or payouts.
We encourage all traders to use consistent, risk-managed strategies that align with our trading rules and sustainable trading practices.
Abuse of the Simulated Environment
Clear abuse of the simulated environment is characterized by continuously executing large-volume trades without a clear or logical trading strategy. This behaviour disregards fundamental market analysis and risk management practices and does not provide us with viable trading data. Accounts engaging in consistent, high volume trades without a coherent strategy may be flagged for review. This allows us to assess and take appropriate action to maintain a fair trading environment consistent with our mission of obtaining credible trading data. Accounts identified to be consistently executing large-volume trades without a clear strategy may face warnings, temporary limitations on trading activities, or in severe cases, suspension, or termination to uphold the platform's trading policies.

Risk limitation Policy
Goat Funded Trader reserves the right to set specific risk limitations on any trader’s account if we believe it is necessary to maintain responsible trading practices. Our team monitors trading behavior to ensure it aligns with our standards for a safe and fair trading environment. If we observe patterns of excessive risk-taking, we may impose limitations, such as restricting risk per trade idea to a maximum of 1% of the account’s initial balance.
Consequences of Non-Compliance with Risk Limitations:
If a trader does not comply with these imposed risk restrictions after being notified, it will result in an immediate breach of the account. Accounts breached under these circumstances are ineligible for any rewards, and no further entitlements will be granted.
These risk measures are in place to encourage a disciplined approach to trading and to protect account stability. Restrictions may be reconsidered if consistent adherence to safe risk practices is observed over time.

What happens if a rule violation is detected on my account?
If any breach or prohibited practice violation is detected on your account, that account will be suspended and rendered ineligible for future rewards or to advance to the next stage.
